How to Learn : and how to Remember
Guys, its been some time that Ive wanted to talk to you about the concept of 'prior knowlege'.
Ive been thinking alot about it over these past few weeks - why is it so hard for younger people to learn something which for me seems to be either something I feel like Ive known forever, or I find it easy? the reason is called PRIOR KNOWLEDGE.
The ability to learn is simply layers and layers and layers of prior knowledge. things that you are already aware of and you just build on that. This is why if you are already aware of a situation or a historical event, you are more prone to learning more things about it faster, and easier.
For this reason, in order to help ourselves on this journey called Alevel History the more we know, the more we read about the world around us, even things unrelated to our specific syllabus, the more able we will be to accumulate information, and build knowledge, and most importantly, critical thinking skills. Even if you read one article a week about something extra regarding your syllabus, or something random, this will facilitate your learning process and your understanding.
Here's hoping you will work SMARTER not necessarily harder :)
I will continue to share more articles from across the internet here regarding the syllabus (check the Labels on the Left to find the Tags that are relevant to your syllabus) or just browse for general reading
